Nilaga in English means boiled while baboy means pork is another Filipino recipe which is found on all corners of the Philippines. I prefer to cook this food dish today as it is my off from work and they say that after eating pork you will feel the need to rest so I do not have to worry if my bed will hug me tonight longer than the usual work day.
This is one of my favorite of the many Mama Inday's recipe as this is a soupy kind of food dish and I'm into soups. This food dish is best served hot which will exceed the satisfaction you are expecting to have. Aside from pork, this is also best cooked with beef and shrimp then just choose the vegetable to mix for your desired meat.
This blog will give you an idea on how to cook Nilagang Baboy. This is how I cook this palatable dish and believe it or not, no one wasn't satisfied when they try my Nilagang Baboy.
HOW IT IS DONE
Ingredients (good for 2-3 person)
2 tbsp cooking oil
1 medium-size yellow onion
2 tsp grind pepper
1/4 kilo pork, sinigang cut
1 pork broth cubes
2 medium-sized potato
1 medium-size cabbage
salt
|
Procedure
- Saute yellow onion in cooking oil
- Add pepper then mix
- Add pork, cover pot and wait until pork becomes juicy
- Add water, simmer until pork becomes tender
- Add pork broth cubes, mix until it melts
- Add potato, simmer until potato becomes soft
- Add cabbage (cut into pieces by hand; I do not know the term, but you make it something that looks like many separate leaves), simmer until cabbage also becomes tender
- Add salt depends on your taste
- Turn off fire. Serve hot and enjoy!
I cannot remember if it was taught at school or my Mama Inday said this to me or if it was from a friend that pork becomes tender in a short period of time if you put a fork while simmering it. Yes, I did! And I do not know really if that it becomes tender quick or it was really that long to make it tender. Lol!
