SMX Convention Center in SM Lanang Premier Davao City was jam-packed with teachers yesterday as PLDT-SMART Foundation replicated in the form of a pocket event it's Gabay Guro's 9th Grand Gathering of public and private teachers who were not able to make it during the grand event last September 25, 2016 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Themed "Building The Nation One Teacher At A Time", Gabay Guro also known as TeacherFest is the biggest tribute for teachers to date. It is considered a culmination of a year of trainings, scholarships, and livelihood programs for the teacher beneficiaries.

TeacherFest 2016 honored the teachers' hard work, dedication and impact on society with a day filled with their favorite celebrities, world-class performances and exciting prizes.
Concert Queen Pops Fernandez set and started the event on party mode with her medley. She was also one of the hosts of the event joined by Miss Universe Philippines 2014 MJ Lastimosa and Mr. World 2012 first runner-up Andrew Wolff.

Kabilin Mindanaw of Cabantian National High School performed for our dear teachers.
Former lead vocalist and primary songwriter of the Filipino rock band Afterimage in the 90's Wency Cornejo sang "Next In Line" and "Hanggang". Wency is currently residing in Davao City.
Internet sensations Rowell Ucat known as Medyo Maldito and Snake Princess entertained the audience with Snake Princess left with a quote for women "You are beautiful. You don't need a man to say that" and Medyo Maldito sang "Hahahasula" which is his original composition.

Everybody was touched by the story of a retired teacher who up until now provides feeding program to students up to her last centavo. She is Mrs. Ching Lagare who described herself as simple, beautiful, humble and a generous person. She was serenaded by balladeer, host, and actor Christian Bautista with a song "Beautiful In My Eyes" on stage.

The crowd goes wild as Asia's songbird and PLDT Home ambassador Regine Velasquez-Alcasid performs on stage and sang "You Are My Song", "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw", "Dadalhin" with Maricel Callo, grand finalist in Tawag Ng Tanghalan in It's Showtime show of ABS-CBN who also belted "Go the Distance".

Though suffering from cough and colds yesterday, Regine never failed the audience and kept on wowing us as she continues to sing "Tuwing Umuulan", "Hinahanap-hanap Kita" and lastly the song dedicated to the teachers "Believing In Me".
Lucky teachers bring home case prizes, bank account with preloaded amount, SMART Pocket Wifi, laptop and a trip to Hong Kong for two after the event.
"It is our honor to be able to bring this grand celebration to the deserving teachers of Davao," PLDT Gabay Guro Chairman Chaye Cabal-Revilla said. "After the main event in Manila, we decided to bring the experience to our teachers from other areas, including Japan and now Davao. This is our way of rewarding as many teachers as possible for their valuable presence in our lives."
