My Sinulog Festival 2017

Together with my travel buddy, GreegAdventure, we enjoyed Sinulog Festival 2017.

Sinulog Festival is something that Cebuanos are looking forward to every year. When I was still working in Cebu, my workmates would even exchange money and/or goods for a day off on this day just to enjoy the festival out from work.

Holidays do not stop in New Year for Cebuanos, it stops when love month starts. So whole month of January, you will experience a fun and joyful Cebu. Every corner you will hear the event's theme song - Pit Senyor or the song, Cebu. The main event is during Besperas and Sinulog Mardi gras.

Before the main event, we spent our time touring malls like SM Cebu, SM Seaside City, SM Consolacion, Ayala Center Cebu, and the ever Metro Gaisano Colon. Discounts here, activities there, artists everywhere. Different happenings offered everyday.

Besperas, or a day before a main event, is when procession of the Miraculous Image of Señor Santo Niño. We walked from Basilica Minore del Sto Niño to Jones Avenue to General Maxilom Avenue back to the Basilica. It was 2-3 hour walk. For some procession event, people will stop in the middle of the way maybe because they're tired already but all people who attended this event is happy to walk with Santo Niño from Basilica back to Basilica.

After going back to the Basilica, a mass was held and after the mass there  was a Grand Fireworks display. 

And the much awaited event - the Grand Mardi gras. You will enjoy a day till night of street dancing and parade of floats, Manila artists carried in floats and the Sinulog dance interpretation in the rhythm of Pit Senyor.

The Sinulog Festival is an annual cultural and religious festival held on the third Sunday of January in Cebu City. This is in honor of the people's beloved Señor Santo Niño.
