I am a simple person who loves to wander, travel, and most of all loves to familiarize the yet unfamiliar then put everything into writing to share to those wanted to do the same.

How to be safe in theaters

I and some friends are planning to watch "Barcelona: A Love Untold" tomorrow on one of the theater malls here in Davao. But after the tragic explosion happened in the city last September 2, we were now hesitant to do so as after the incident next target would be malls according to a text message that circulated. May it be hoax or not, it would be better to always be vigilant.

Here are some tips for staying safe in theaters:

1. Choose theaters that implements full security
Though these malls are too expensive, but what is 50-100 pesos additional if you are safe from the time you go inside the theater  until the movie ends.

2. Sit in the back row
I always prefer to sit at the back row because this gives me a clear view of everything and everyone in the theater.

3. Report someone suspicious immediately
If you suspect a person to be doing something bad, report it to authorities. Do not approach the person right away as you might be wrong with your suspicion.

4. Keep your belongings secured
Keep a constant eye on your belongings as thieves might take advantage of the moment you are enjoying the movie

5. The more the better
It would be better to go with your friends because aside from it is more fun to see a movie with friends, more eyes mean more awareness of the room and people.

6. Keep your mobile phones ready
Keep your phone on and handy so that you can easily make an emergency call but just keep the volume down so an incoming call won't disrupt moviegoers.

7. Dont panic
Stay calm, keep your focus and follow authorities on what to do during emergency situations

8. Know emergency exits
Once you get inside the movie theater, check for emergency exits so that in case accidents happen, you will know where to proceed immediately.

9. Save emergency hotlines
As much as possible memorize emergency hotline numbers as being trapped during an incident is possible. Do not hesitate to call emergency hotline numbers.

10. Stay home instead
You may be jealous of your friends which gives their own critic about the movie they watched but just think of how you will be able to save your life if something happened during the date.

Enjoy your movie date and stay safe, everyone because that is what we deserve.
